Description
Original 1st printing 13&3/4 x 23" concert poster and 5&1/4 x 8" handbill/card for the Charlatans appearing with Frumious Bandersnatch and Triple AAA (Anonymous Artists of America) at the Western Front in San Francisco, CA from 10/27-28/1967.
Art by Stanley Mouse (who has also SIGNED the poster in pencil) and Alton Kelley, image (red stock version) is featured in the Art of Rock on page 191 (plate 2.200). *This image was printed in two colors- this version and another version on red stock (which we have listed separately). It is sometimes referred to as "Fat F*ck" due to the tiny hidden profanity in the photo.
Medium-thick flat vellum stock poster is in good (B) condition; there are several pronounced thin diagonal bends (each about 5" long) stretching along the upper right and lower left margins, along with a couple of tiny corner-tip pressure creases, a few light handling dings hiding within the image area and a pair of ink streaks in the right margin (press roller marks), otherwise OK.
The handbill/card has a tiny tear in the upper right margin, along with a couple of thin edge/corner creases, slightly rounded corner tips and a whisper of surface dirt, about a B/B+ to B+ condition overall.
Neart little set of original late-'67 San Francisco psychedelic artifacts from the short-lived Tenderloin venue.
