Description

Original 1st printing 14 x 20" concert poster for NYC folk/blues/rock legends the Blues Project (featuring Al Kooper and Steve Katz) appearing with the Great Society (featuring Grace Slick) at the Avalon Ballroom in San Francisco, CA from 4/22-23/1966.

Art by Wes Wilson, image is # 5 in the Family Dog/Avalon series.

Medium-thick flat vellum stock poster has been professionally restored to excellent (B+) condition; all four corners have had repair (stain removal/paper fills), along with a bit of work around the outer margin (sealed trears, etc.) and there remain a few tiny hairline creases and ULTRA-tiny pin-prick holes/spots and a soft smudge or two hiding within the image area, but overall the piece looks pretty sharp- strong colors/no fading or paper toning... very sharp indeed.

Very decent-looking restored 1st printing example of this iconic early Family Dog poster. In addition to this being the first Avalon show, it was also the first full-color poster in the series (Chet used to make a big deal out of this)... a perfect opportunity for someone who doesn't want to spend a small fortune for a higher-graded example.
