Description

Original 1st printing 19&7/8 x 31" event poster for "The Arts & Censorship" a symposium/event/concert that was to be held at the Royal Festival Hall in London, England on 12/9/1968. (*event cancelled)

Design by Alan Aldridge, acts/speakers listed include: the Grateful Dead, Samuel Beckett, John Peel, Dame Peggy Ashcroft, Adrian Mitchell and MANY more.

Medium-thin glossy stock poster is in decent (B/B-) condition; there is a thin pronounced horizontal bend traversing the image area about 7" down from the top margin bisected in the middle by a thin 6-7" vertical bend, along with a series of tiny edge tears/nips and crinkle creases scattered around the outer margin area, a series of light pressure/stress creases in the middle of the snake, a 1" tear in the top center margin, a 3/4" tear along the lower right/center margin, a couple of tiny thin pronounced horizontal bends in the upper right corner and a hint of mild paper toning, otherwise OK.

WILD-looking late-1968 UK event poster with a bizarre Alan Aldridge design and an even stranger lineup. One of the more unusual Grateful Dead items I have handled, that's for sure.
